Research and teaching

Within the project SOLKID-GNR (Living Kidney Donor Register) funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), IMI works together with scientists and clinicians from various disciplines (transplant medicine, psychology / psychosomatics, nephrology, surgery, urology, biometry).Within five years, a nationwide register will be established. The collected data are intended to provide living donors, recipients of living donations, psychosocial and somatic medical professionals with reliable and scientifically-based risk assessment information. The analysis of the psychosocial and medical long-term results allows for the first time to improve the estimation of donor risks and will enable a comprehensive education of special donor groups. In this project, IMI is responsible for the requirements analysis, conception and implementation of the registry database with interfaces to hospital information systems.
