Use and Access Committee
The aim of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is to create a harmonized framework for uniformly regulated nationwide access to and exchange of medical data. The University Münster (WWU) as a member of the HiGHmed consortium takes part in the MII and has committed itself to its goals. In order to implement the goals of the MII, in addition to the corresponding technical and organizational requirements, ethical and legal framework conditions and governance measures for access to patient data must be created. This also applies to the use and application of analysis methods and routines in the locations involved in MII. Against this background, the WWU has established the Use and Access Committee (UAC) as a central element of ethical and legal governance.
The UAC Münster is a body made up primarily of members of the WWU and the University Hospital Münster (UKM), who are involved in the MII as part of the HiGHmed consortium. The UAC Münster is particularly dedicated to the task of assessing applications for the release and use of patient data and applications for the use of analysis methods and routines according to organizational, legal, ethical and scientific aspects and approving applications for use accordingly approve or reject.
