In the MeDIC, data from care and research are merged to support innovations in medical research for the benefit of patients. As far as possible, the data will be used pseudonymously or anonymously. Data security and protection of patients’ interests are the top priority. Therefore, the use of the data is subject to a strict data protection concept, which only allows release of personal data in exceptional cases (and with consent of patients). Usually, patient data does not leave the MeDIC. The evaluation is carried out by specially trained personnel. The transfer of data that has already been evaluated and summarized does not allow to identify individual patients.
